Futures Week - London Biggin Hill Airport

Futures Week is our bi-annual event (taking place every February and October half term) designed to inspire and encourage young people interested in pursuing a career in the aviation industry.

About Futures Week

The initiative provides 15 young people, aged 15-18 years, the opportunity to experience the many roles available in aviation, both at London Biggin Hill & beyond.

During the week, students experience a range of interactive activities and careers advice, talks from inspirational people and immersive visits to our resident aerospace companies.

Applications, which must be completed by the student wishing to participate, can be made via our online form.

Applications are now closed for Futures Week in February 2026.

We are currently reviewing applications, and successful applicants will be invited for an interview at the airport.

Success Stories

Meet Nadia – a former Biggin Hill air cadet whose aviation dreams took flight on our Futures Week. During the week, she explored a variety of career pathways and forged connections with industry experts.

Upon completing the programme, Nadia successfully launched her career as an apprentice at Bombardier’s service centre at London Biggin Hill.

Since then, she has shown great perseverance in obtaining the skills and embracing every opportunity to progress her career in aviation – with ambitions to become a commercial pilot.

Meet Phillip – an aspiring pilot who followed his passion for aviation after attending Futures Week.

Starting off as a Biggin Hill Air Cadet at the age of 12, Phillip knew early on that he wanted to work in aviation. He flew in a Chipmunk when he was 10 years old, started flying lessons at 11, flew solo at 16 and now has his PPL, which he completed at just 18 years old.

At age 15, Phillip applied for Futures Week – keen to learn more about the aviation industry and explore the diverse range of careers it offers. During the week, he gained valuable experience and built lasting friendships with like-minded people, while focusing on the aspects of aviation that he really enjoyed.

Phillip dreams of being a private jet pilot. He now works within our Ramp Safety Team, gaining experience and continuing to collect flight hours.

Meet Joseph – a Bombardier apprentice who discovered his love for engineering after attending Futures Week in February 2022. Joseph went on to complete his apprenticeship training in Cambridge at the Marshall Skills Academy, and now works in the Bombardier service centre at London Biggin Hill.

He attributes the launch of his career to Futures Week, emphasising how his experience led to life-long friendships and valuable connections with aviation professionals.

Joseph is now on track to forging a life-long career as an aircraft engineer.
