London – 10 July 2025: London Biggin Hill is announcing major milestones in the construction of Bombardier’s new European paint facility at the airport, with ground stabilisation and foundation work complete, steel structure installation progressing, and cladding now underway.

The high-spec 51,000 sq. ft., two-bay paint hangar, the first of its kind for Bombardier in the region, represents a key phase in the expansion of the London Biggin Hill Service Centre, one of the largest OEM MROs in Europe. It will offer full exterior finishing for Bombardier’s fleet, including the soon-to-be-certified Global 8000.

Peter Fortune, Member of Parliament for Bromley and Biggin Hill, visited the Service Centre on 4 July for his inaugural tour. Fortune says: “It was incredible to see behind-the-scenes at Bombardier’s state of the art engineering facility. It is a great benefit for the borough to have a multinational company like Bombardier set their European flagship service facility here.

“It is exciting to see their commitment to developing in Bromley with the construction of their new paint facility, creating more local jobs and opportunities, and speaks volumes for the fantastic job that London Biggin Hill Airport does attracting inward investment to the region.”

The site will employ more than 50 skilled paint technicians and sit adjacent to the 250,000 sq. ft. service centre, which already delivers scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications and avionics installations for Bombardier aircraft.

Robert Walters, Commercial Director at London Biggin Hill Airport, says: “With the installation on track, Bombardier’s London base is becoming a clear symbol of development – not only for our airport, but for the regional economy. This is another powerful example of investment that creates skilled jobs, boosts supply chains and shapes long-term opportunity for London and the South East.”

With construction progressing on schedule, the paint facility is expected to be operational in 2026.
